About  Us

Tuckered Out Ministry is a 501c3 nonprofit Christian organization located in Concord, North Carolina that started in June of 2022. However, God began knudging the heart of our founder around April of 2021.  God planted the idea and with His continued leading, the support of friends and family and lots of prayer, we are beginning to make plans for how we can support our local pastors and encourage them to rest and recharge.

Carla Goodman
Founder

Carla Goodman is the founding President of Tuckered Out Ministry and is a native of Concord. She was born and raised in Cabarrus County where she attended high school and continued her education nearby at UNC Charlotte. Carla has worked in public education for the last 24 years in various roles including classroom teacher, literacy specialist, MTSS coordinator, and state testing coordinator.

As the founder of Tuckered Out Ministry, Carla has a passion for encouraging pastors, missionaries and their spouses. She believes there is a strong link between taking care of those that God has called to shepherd His flock and all of His children helping to further the gospel.  The vision God placed on her heart is the heartbeat of this ministry.

Over twenty years ago, when Carla was fresh out of college, she recalls desiring to volunteer with a nonprofit organization to help make a difference in the community. Once she began teaching, that dream faded with the demands of education. It amazes her how God knew way back then the desires of her heart and praises Him for his goodness and faithfulness in bringing things to fruition in His timing and His perfect plan with Tuckered Out Ministry!  She never would have imagined starting a nonprofit on her own way back then, but God knew! He gets all the glory!

Ashley Marlow
Vice-President

Ashley Marlow is the Vice President of Tuckered Out Ministry. She was born in Georgia and moved to Cabarrus County when she was five years old. Ashley attended AL Brown High School and continued her education at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC.

Ashley worked in public education for 5 years until her children were born.  Then in 2013 became the Children’s Pastor at He’s Alive Church where she served for 9 years.  Most recently Ashley has returned to public education as a testing coordinator at a local middle school.

As a former pastor herself, Ashley knows firsthand just how important it is for us to encourage pastors, missionaries, and their spouses.  She is excited to be a part of Tuckered Out Ministry and partnering with others to encourage pastors.

Mark Goodman
Board Member

Mark Goodman is a native of Concord and attended high school at Northwest Cabarrus. He continued his education at CPCC and UNC-Charlotte.

During his high school years, he served as a volunteer firefighter at Winecoff VFD. He followed this passion as a career and has been serving the Concord community in various leadership roles with the City of Concord Fire Department for 28 years where he retired as a Division Chief in 2024.  He is also a pilot and certified flight instructor.

Mark is married to our founder, Carla.  He supports her vision at Tuckered Out Ministry.  As a first responder, he has witnessed countless tragedies that have affected our local families. He sees the importance of our community having pastors who are available to counsel and support the families and individuals affected by tragedy.  He understands the impact our community would feel if our pastors were to leave the profession.
